Bond Buzz, Issue #3
June 20, 2003
Free from Bond America!

Dear Friends,
Welcome again all Bond Sweater Machine(r), Magicord(r) and Wyr Knittr(tm) owners to the third issue of “Bond Buzz” e-newsletter!!

Well, it's still sweater weather here in Vermont -- lots of rain for the garden (and a great excuse for staying indoors knitting on my Bond Sweater Machine)! Even New York is cool (but NY is "cool" anyway....)

What's new? Mary Engelbreit's Knit for a Queen pattern book from Leisure Arts. Turn a basic sweater into a work of art - Mary's art - by adding your choice of designs to superimpose on the basic sweater (which, by the way, comes in 12 adult sizes). Just go here to order. What a way to dress up your wardrobe!

And what are you knitting these days? Could it be one of those beat-the-heat summer sweaters from the current issue of Ultimate Knitting? Or could it be a pair of wonderful linen curtains with Heidi Stepp's imaginative tuck stitch pattern? Or what about Marilyn Losee's
embroidered Windowpane Afghan, knitted in Simply Soft yarn from Caron?

Do you love knitting those chunky yarns but are some of them so textured they're giving you trouble by not knitting a stitch every so often on the row? I did at first, but I think I have an answer for you: If you have a USM (not an ISM or Classic), when you begin knitting the row, push the knitted fabric (or hem, depending on how much you've knitted) back, almost under the table with one hand and push the carriage with the other across the row. This seemed to put those finicky stitches correctly on the needles. For those of you who are particularly "handy" you could rig up a bar to put the knitting behind to see if that will replace using your hand to hold the knitting back.

For more helpful hints and tips, see the Stitch Encyclopedia Set, volume I and Stitch Encyclopedia Set, volume II and the Creative Stitches Video available at our online store, 24-hours a day!If anyone would like to contribute a tip or technique, please contact me through the website.

Until next time, HAPPY KNITTING!
